More and more anglophone first names are being given in Germany, for example the girl’s names Hailey, Ava and Ruby and the boys’ names Aiden, Dylan, Jack and Luke. Young parents in particular are choosing these names.
It is striking that short forms are often registered as official names. The boy’s name Ben, which is very popular in Germany, appears on birth certificates and not Benjamin.
American first names are probably so popular because American movies and TV Shows are very popular in Germany and many parents are inspired by the first names of the roles and actors.
